Dear diary,
Today was horrible! My mum and I were watching Shrek the movie when the door bell rang. I paused the movie so my mum could go to answer the door. There was a man at the door and she let him in and they had a chat in the kitchen. It was a very long chat and I was beginning to wonder what was happening, I was also a bit bored so I turned the movie back on. When the man had left, instead of coming back in to me mum kept very quiet and stayed in the kitchen. I didn’t know what was wrong so I went into the kitchen to find out. Mum looked very sad so I went over and sat on her knee, even though I didn’t want to I just knew that was what she needed. I asked her what was going on and she said “its about your father”. It was at that moment that I realised what had happened to him. Then mum said “that was a military man who came to tell us that your father has died”. There was a long silence between us both, I gave mum a hug and I just didn’t know what to say.

Dear Diary,
I had the most horrendous day in my life. Me and my mum were sitting on the couch watching Shrek 2 and then there was a knock at the door. Mum went to answer the door, I didn't know what was going on so I carried on watching Shrek. Mum didn't come back in for the rest of the movie. When the movie finished I went to see were mum was and why she didn't come back into watch our favorite movie. I went into the kitchen and saw mum sat in silence at the kitchen table, with a strange, sad look on her face. I went over to her and gave her a hug to try and make her feel better. I asked her what was wrong, she told me sobbing "I am so sorry but your dad died in the war."I started to cry, I didn't expect that. I was sat on her knee and we were both crying. By the time we had stopped crying it was my bedtime. My mum tucked me in and I asked her if she could lie down with me until I fell asleep. Although sleep did not come easily, I felt my mum's presence and was glad she stayed by my side.

Dear diary,
Today was dreadful!!!!! This is how my day turned out to be like a horrifying nightmare. Me and Mum were sat on the couch watching t.v, we were watching my ABSOLUTE favourite film of all time ... Shrek.( although i have watched it a trillion times) All of a sudden, the door bell rang . Immediately , my mum leaped up from the couch and went to the door to see who it was. I continued to watch the movie and leave mum to get the door. Just then I paused the movie to see who was at the door. Then, a strange man stepped into the house, and I saw mum lead him into the kitchen.A rush of confusion gushed me wondering why and who this peculiar man was? I decided to forget about the man and what they were doing and pressed the play button on the remote to continue watching Shrek. Then it seemed like a few hours since mum had answered the door and Shrek had finished so I decided to check on mum. As I approached the kitchen door I heard a faint crying sound coming from the kitchen . I opened the door to see mum sat down at the kitchen table crying her eyes out. " Mum whats wrong why are you crying" I said bewildered. She told me to sit down on the chair across from her. Mum said to me sadly " That man who came inside was a military man , and do you know how dad was in the army well......... will your fathers dead" There was a long stop between us then i decided to give mum a hug even though i hated it i knew she needed it. I had nothing to say except to hug my mum.

Today was the worst experience in my whole entire life. Mum and I were watching Shrek the movie, when the door-bell sang its little tune both me and mum were not happy about this how dare a person interrupt are favorite movie as mum got up to answer the door-bell I paused the telly so that mum didn't miss out on anything.A couple of seconds after mum had answered the door the same person that held mum from watching our favorite movie came inside our house! I must admit it did feel funny having a man in the house because dad hadn't been here for ages. I stated to get bored mum still hadn't come back and it had been half an hour so I pressed play on the TV remote. three hole hours went by and the movie had finished and mum still hadn't came back so I decided to go and look for her. Soon after I went to look for her I found her she had her head in her hands I could tell she was crying I asked her what was up but I wish I hadn't because this was were my life was about to change! She looked up at me and said in a just hear able voice "That was the military man Will he came to tell us that...That your dad's died Will" I suddenly realized why he had such a serious face. There was a lengthen silence between me and mum I sat on her knee I didn't want to but I felt like she needed it. I didn't know what to do!

Dear diary,
My heart has been broken. Today was horrendous. I was having a chill day with mum: watching Shrek for the one millionth time. I was thinking "mum's probably sick of this film," when I remembered that she loved this film as much as I did. We were about 1/4 of the way threw when someone rang the stupid doorbell. I really didn't want to have to get up and neither did mum. We were both in our dressing gowns and we had a bit of a bed-head. I don't really think we were appropriately dressed for visitors. I paused the film for mum as she briskly went to the door. She was taking FOREVER! In the end I just turned back on Shrek. If mum missed the end of it, it was the visitors fault. Towards ther end of the film I noticed that it was extremely quiet. I hadn't heard the front door slam shut. I just asumed that the visitors were still with mum having a cup of coffee. The movie ended and I realised mum wasn't back yet. I tasted a funny feeling that something was really wrong. Mum could talk a lot but not this much. I went to go and investigate. I found mum sitting at the island in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee. I saw the luck on mum's face. She hadn't looked like this since the cold she had last year in Summer. Mum said almost bursting into tears said, "Sit down Will. Your father... He's dead." I sat on my mum's knee thinking when i last saw dad. That day was horrible as well. I just want to... to... FORGET ABOUT HIM! then my misery and suffering would end. Why, oh why did he have to go to war?

Dear diary,
Today had to be the worst and saddest day of my life, I had heard the most heart-breaking news. It all happened whilst me and my mother were watching Shrek 2. It was my most favourite film in the whole world. There we were, sat peacefully, until there was a loud knock at the door. Mother got up in order to answer it. I was so interested in Shrek, that I didn't notice that she hadn't come back for a long time now. But I continued to watch until Shrek had finished. After that, I had noticed that mother had gone , so I went into the kitchen to find her. She was sat very quietly at the corner of the table, so I went round to her. " Come and sit down Will. We need to talk." She said . I didn't know what it was about so I slowly sat down. " Its about your father Will." She slowly said. But by this moment I knew what she meant . She took my hand, slightly shaking and said " He's dead Will." There was a long silence. A tear trickled down her cheek. I didn't know what to do. But then I asked her " Mother, why did he have to go to the war?" But she didn't answer.

Dear diary,
Today was the worst day of my life!
Mum and I were watching Shrek the Movie when a sudden knock came from the front door. Mum told me to stay sat down, so I paused the movie while she answered the door. When I heard the door shut and footsteps head for the living room, I sat up straight my thumb hovering over the play button ready for mum to come in and sit back down, but she did not come back in. Instead, I heard the door to the kitchen slam shut. After a while, I started to wonder if mum would ever come back so I decided to un-pause the movie. It was after the movie had finished, that I realised that mum had not returned. I thought to myself “I will go and see where she is?” so I went into the kitchen to find mum sitting at the table with her hands buried in her face. I could tell that something was wrong. I walk over to mum and climb onto her knee where I sat for a bit. Then, I asked her what was wrong. That is when my life changed! Dad was DEAD! Mum said that there was a bomb at the side of the road and that dad had been in a Landover when the bomb went off and blew up the car, which he was in. I wish dad had not gone to war because then none of this would have happened.
I hope tomorrow will be better.

Today I was watching shrek with my mum. That was when I heard a man that was dressed very smartly walking down the drive. My mum went to the door to let the man in. That was when the man walked through the hall his heavy boots made such a loud noise I could hardly hear the television. After a while the man came out . I thought that man was just a sales man. But then I saw his car it was like the one dad used to take me on so as fast as I could I ran out to the kitchen. Then in the kitchen I saw her crying so then I asked her what was the matter.
After what seemed liked for ever mum said ”will you know how your father went to war, when they where driving back a bomb fell on the car. It was then I knew why the man was dressed so smartly. I thought to myself why did it have to be me. I climbed on my mum’s lap and we sobbed together. I sat on my mum’s lap because I knew it would make her feel better. I lent against her dressing grown to make me feel better.

I sat down and asked her "Whats wrong mum?" She replied "It's your father Will hes...hes passed away " " Why did he have to go to war ?" I asked . " To fight for our country Will" She answered . I saw a tear trickle down mums face . I didn't want to hug her but I knew i had to. " We will stay strong ... strong together mum " I said.

Dear diary,
Today was appalling! My mum and I were watching a movie, but not just any movie it was Shrek 2. It was my favourite. Mum always said "This again!" I ignored her and carried on watching until the door bell rang. "Who could that be?" I asked mum. "I don't know." Mum answered. I paused the movie just before the best part so mum could see it. Mum answered the door and invited a man into the house, they crept into the kitchen thinking I wouldn't hear. I wondered what was taking them so long. After ten minutes, I got bored so I turned the movie back on again. It was an hour before the man left. I strolled into the kitchen and asked mum what was up because she looked really sad. She murmured "Its your dad Will." It was at that second that I realised my dad wasn't coming home. Mum told me "The military man came and told me. That is how I know about your dad." I gave her a big hug and told her to sit down in the livingroom with me and carry on watching Shrek 2.

I did not know so i waited till my mum finished talking to them in the kitchen but even after they had left my mum did not come back in the living room to carry on watching Shrek with me and one hour later I went to the kitchen.
I sat down my mum drinking her coffee was not looking to great, i had to ask... ask what happened. " Mum why are you so down. "I asked
She answered. " Your, your dad the car and then the bomb. He's dead." I sat on her lap and knew she needed a hug but I couldn't my mind was lost deep down in my lasting memories of my dad.

Dear Diary,
Today I found out something terrible, something that broke mine and my mothers hearts...
So today started like every other day, I woke up and had my breakfast, I was really exited for today because my mum said that we could watch Shrek, my favorite movie. Even though I watched it about four times,it was even more exiting the more I watch it. So me and my mum sat down and started watching it, but before we could even get comfy somebody knocked, so my mum got up and answered the door. I heard some mumbling in the other room but I was too interested in the movie to actually listen to what they said. The movie had already finished and mum still wasn't back, I thought that was a bit strange since Shrek is also her favorite movie. So I went to the kitchen...
I saw my mum in the corner of the room with her head down and her knees in her chest. I walked up to her and she said faintly '' Will... your Father..has...died.'' I could not believe it, I looked at her and gave her a hug, not because I wanted to, because I knew she needed it...
And this day, started like any other day.

Dear diary,
Today was the absolute WORST! It all started when we were watching Shrek the movie and then half way through the movie, the military police arrived I stopped the movie and went to my mum after they left to see what that was all about. She didn't reply so I could tell that something was wrong. Her whole face looked down in the dumps so, once again, I asked her what was up and she told me the news...
and she eventually murmured, "Remember when your dad travelled to Iraq?" I nodded my head. "well..."
"Well what?" I asked.
"He died." She wailed. I climbed up and sat in her lap. We didn't cry; we just sat there in silence. Thinking about dad.
Yours sincerely,
Will

Today was terrible. I'll tell you what happened, me and mum was watching Shrek as usual till I heard the door bell ring. Mum walked out the room so I paused the movie, then ten minutes later she didn't come back. I unpaused it. 2 hours later I walked into the room she was sat there. I asked her what was wrong, quietly she said, come here Will. I was Shocked. She said its your dad Will, he's dead. We was both sad and we both cried. Later I went to bed and I couldn't stop thinking about it. The next day I went to grandmas and granddads house. Grandma told mum she'd booked us a holiday. Mum was shocked and said thank you. We arrived at the hotel at the side of the beach. Mum said "why don't we do something to put your mind of it?" I replied "can I ride an elephant?" Mum said "ok then." I got on the elephant and mum said be careful. "I'm going swimming in the sea". I saw the sea getting shallower, the elephant started running what could I do?

Dear Dear,
Today was the worst day of my life!
My mum and I was watching Shrek it was one of our favourite films then the door bell rang. I paused the movie so that we could watch it later. Slowly mum walked to the door, outside a man was standing there so my mum let him in and they had a very long chat in the kitchen. Suddenly, i was starting to wonder what was happening so i tried to pick out some words to make sense of what they were talking about but i couldn't . After, i got a bit bored so i switched the movie back on. Later when the man had left mum kept very quiet and stayed in the kitchen. I didn't know what was wrong so I went in and she was sat on a chair crying softly into her hands, I went and hugged her and sat on her knee even though i didn't really want to but i knew that's what she needed. I asked her what was wrong she said "its about your father" Then i realised what had happened. she said "it was the military man who came to tell us about your fathers death". It took me until Shrek 2 had finished to notice that mum hadn't come back in. "Mum!" I shouted, "Who was that?". I walked into the kitchen to find Mum sat at the table with her hands cupped around a mug. She looked up at me. Her eyes were as red as blood as if she had been crying. "Are you alright Mum?" I asked, "Who was that at the door?"
"It was about dad." She said with tears dripping from her eyes. "He was in Iraq on a land rover, there was a bomb at the side of the road." "He's dead Will, your father is dead."

Dear Diary
Wow what a terrible day I’ve had today. There was a loud knock at the door this afternoon, it made me jump but also made me feel a bit annoyed as I was in the middle of watching My favourite movie Shrek. It got up to the funny part where donkey had starting to sing to Shrek which made me laugh so hard my tummy hurt and then BANG BANG BANG! I slowly peeked round the curtain, my tummy flipped and I had a lump in my throat. I could see a man dressed in uniform and I just knew it was bad news. I felt sick with fear. My head flicked from Shrek to my mum and I saw my mum walk to the front door. I tried to hear what everyone was saying I wanted to know what was going on but all I could hear was whispering and mumbled voices. I started to shake and I felt anxious; my body was full of goosebumps. It felt like hours that my mum was with the man in uniform but I’m sure it was only minutes. I heard my mum in a really different voice shout “nooooo” and I just knew it was horrible news. Mum came in to see me and she didn’t look like mum. She had been crying, she walked towards me and I ran straight to her. She moved me over to the chair and sat me down, she explained as best she could in her soft voice that my Dad had gone to heaven. I just felt pain. We sat all night together and hugged and cried until eventually Mum fell asleep through upset and tiredness.

Dear Diary,
Today was awful. The most terrible thing happened and I'll never forget it. Me and my mum were sat on the couch watching Shrek 2 when the doorbell rang. Mum paused the film and went to go answer the door. She was taking a while to come back in so I pressed play and watched the rest of the movie. When it had finished, mum still hadn't come back in and that was when I was hearing a soft cry coming from the kitchen. So I got up and went to see what was wrong. I saw mum clutching a cup of tea and all the colour drained from her face. I went over and sat on her knee, not that I wanted to but I felt it would give her comfort. "It's your father Will, he's not coming back..." at once she started crying "he, he's dead" she said in a small voice trying not to splutter the words out. I looked at her trying to be as calm as I could but really I was screaming inside. My heart stopped beating. I gave her a hug and squeezed her hand. I just wish this day hadn't happened.

My mum said that we had telegram came then I knew what was going on. So I came over to her and sat on her lap. She told me that my dad and his college's had been driving in a range rover one night and a bomb went off. My mind was going crazy. I wounded what will happen next?

today was awful, mum and i was sat down on the sofa watching Shrek two. until a man, knocked on our door with a suit on his body. Mum whispered " wait there will i'll be a couple minutes, so I sat back down on the couch and got all cumfy again. When the film was finished the man had finally left the house. Mum still hadn't moved from the kitchen, so I went to check on her, she asked me to sit down on a chair at the bar. I thought to myself" what on earth is wrong with mum". she explained to me that my dad had died. He was in the army you see, he went to war. There was bomb on the side of the road and exploded. I went to sit on mums lap because I know mum needs it a LOT! I put my hand in mums and both squeezed at the same time as hard as we could. I went back to school the next week, it was very awkward and everyone stayed away from me as much as they could, so did Tom and Jack. During maths I asked the teacher if I could go to the toilet, but I didn't, I ran, I ran away from school.
I waited at the front step for what seemed all day. Mum and the head teacher were looking for me for ages, eventually they found me and we went inside. The head teacher said I don't have to go to school for a few weeks, mum and gran were very glad. They wanted to go back down to the farm. MUM AND GRAN COULD NOT WAIT! If we wanted to go I had to an injection, so i had it. then we went back down to the farm. Then something bad happened.

She told me to stay where I was and answered the door.I only heard whispering and weeping then i heard the door close.Mum came through tears running down her face, she told me to sit down, then she told me everything,I couldn't help but cry with her it was so devastating I ran up to my room and here I am now.

Dear Diary,
Today I have had a bad day it all started when I was watching Shrek he movie. The police came to my door saying that they had died from a bomb. My mum went into the kitchen crying so I walked up to her and asked her what was wrong. She told me the my Dad had died by a bomb in war. I asked her why he had to go to the war and she said because he was part of the army so he had to go to war. The next morning I went to school and everybody was acting weird even my best friend was acting weird so I asked the teacher if I could go to the toilet but I did not really go to the toilet I went back home. When I got home the door was locked and my Mum was not home so I sat on the door step and waited for my Mum. The head teacher found me and took me back to school he told me that my Mum was in hospital. At the end of school my Mum and my Grandma can to collect me. My Mum told me that she had some good news. She said that she wants us to move away for a bit I was happy about that but then my Grandma interrupted and said that we are moving to her and that made it even better. We pack the bags and got ready to go.

Dear Diary,
Today Mum and I were watching Shrek and someone knocked on the door, I wondered who it was but I could feel that something bad was about to happen...
...Mum answered the door and went into the kitchen with the mysterious person. She didn't come back which was unusual because Shrek is our favourite film. I paused Shrek and went into the kitchen. By then the person had left. Mum was sat at the table trying to hold back her tears as I came in to the room. I asked Mum, what's wrong, she didn't answer. I asked again and she said, your father, your father is dead. She started to flood in tears as she said it and I did too. I sat on her knee and gave her a big hug to try and comfort her. This was the saddest moment in time that's had ever happened to me.
Signed sadly Will.

Today was the worst day of my life! Me and mum was watching Shrek (my favourite movie) when a man came knocking on the door. I paused the movie so mum could go answer the door. When mum answered the door and a man stood there, it looked like mum knew him. They went straight to the kitchen. I was waiting for ages when I heard the door shut, that is when I went into the kitchen to check if mum was coming back to watch the movie. When I came in mum was crying, it looked like she wanted to say something but she couldn't. She sat me down. "That was the officer, he said that your father had an accident. He's dead."
I sat on her knee, we didn't cry or say anything. We just sat there in silence.

Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo starts with a boy, Will Robert, riding an elephant along a beach, whilst on holiday in Indonesia. Will is grieving for his father, Robert, who died in the Iraq War. The elephant, Oona, is in an odd mood that day: her handler mentions that she refused to go into the sea for her usual morning dip. Suddenly, Oona charges off with Will clinging on for dear life. As they ascend a hill, Will witnesses the Boxing Day tsunami obliterating the beach where he had been moments earlier.
Oona heads into the jungle with Will on her back, and Will gradually learns to communicate with her and finds fruit and water enabling him to survive in the wild. He also remembers a long-ago lesson from his father, who taught him how to catch fish from a stream using his clothing as a net. However, Will struggles with biting insects and leeches. One day, there is a standoff between Oona and a tiger, and Will remembers the poem "The Tyger" by William Blake. Saying this poem out loud gives Will courage. This courage is needed when Will is kidnapped by hunters, and finds out about threats to the rainforest through trade in exotic pets, animal furs, palm oil and timber. Later Will escapes with the help of a chef, Kaya who frees them by cutting open their wooden cage, leaving Will and the orangutans to run back into the wild. They wander the rainforest until they run into Oona. Will is over joyed to find Oona and climbs on her back with the orangutans. It is an emotional and inspirational story about a boy who found his place in the world , The wild!

Dear diary,
I had a horrid day today, it was the worst day of my life. My day started as per usual (me watching Shrek with mum),when a knock came quietly first and then there was silence. I felt, mum knew what it was about by the way her smile drifted into a solemn look. She walked to the curtain with wide eyes. The tenacity in the room dialled up about one million times when she looked behind the curtains. Mum moped to the door, I could see the tiers swelling in her eyes. I didn't think much of it though I just carried on watching TV , I don't know what I was thinking because that was when my life changed. Mum ran into the kitchen, slamming the door behind her. I could hear her weeping through the walls of our house. I walked into the kitchen and saw her, head in hands crying. I wanted to say something but I didn't want to make things worse. Mum grabbed me and said the words that I thought I would never hear, " y y your farther-"
"is coming home " I said with uncontrollable excitement.
"He's dead"...

TODAY WAS THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE !
I was watching Shrek 2 and I heard a knock at the door, my mum went to go get it and I carried on watching Shrek. An hour after, my mum was still talking so I went to see what was up. As I walked into the kitchen I noticed that she was sobbing with tears. I went to sit down and she told me "Your father has passed away, he was in a car and it was next to a bomb and it blew up I'm so sorry Will." I was sat with her crying for a bit. No one said any thing again about dad.

Dear Diary,
Today was the worst day of my life! Mum and I were sat on the sofa watching Shrek when the doorbell rang. So mum got up to get the door while I continued watching Shrek. Mum and a man (who looked like he was important) walked past me and into the kitchen. about twenty-five minutes later I heard mum crying. I was worried...I saw the man walk past again and he left. As soon as he'd gone, I went into the kitchen and saw mum crying. I asked her what was wrong and all she said was, "your father is... dead." I was upset. Even though I never saw dad, he was still the best. Mum told me the dad went to war in Iraq and got shot. I sat on mum's knee and hugged her. What would we do?

Dear diary,
Today was the worst day of my life!I was watching Shrek 2 when i heard a loud knock on the door. My mum was pale as snow, and wiped a tear away from her eye. She looked through the peek hole as i call it and she gave a big sigh. She told me to carry on watching the TV as she started to open the door. Two tall men stood there a bit taller than the door and they started a conversation with my mum. She asked if they would like to come in because she sounded quite confused.
After a while, I heard my mum belting out with tears. I walked in with a sigh because i thought i knew what it was and sadly i was right. ''its your dad will!''
''what?'' i said with a cry, because i knew exactly what had happened,
''he's gone,''mum cried.I slowly whimpered to myself and went to go and sit on her lap. We cried on to each others shoulders and let the soldiers out.

Today was terrible. I was watching Shrek 2 with my mum. We were in the middle of watching it when the doorbell rang. So mum paused the film to see who was at the door. It was a man. I thought it was important because she let him inside. They went to the kitchen to chat. I didn’t speak to mum until the film had finished so I went into the kitchen to see what she was doing. She looked upset. I asked her who the man was but she did not reply. Finally she told me that dad had died. I was in complete despair. No one spoke a word for ages after that. Later on, me and mum were lying in bed together. I asked her why there was a war, but she didn’t answer.

Dear diary,
Today was horrible! It was after school. Me and Mum were watching Shrek 2 -my favourite film- for the billionth time in the front room. A man came to the door and a knock echoed through the room. I paused the television.”Come through then,’’said Mum seemingly holding in tears ,”Keep watching the film Will.” She led him to the kitchen. A loud, outgoing sob came from the other room.”Will come in here please.” Cautiously I walked into the kitchen. My mother had floods of tears coming from her eyes.”Will,” she said to me,”It's your father. I told you where he was, didn’t I? We found it on the map? His jeep. It was flipped over when it hit a landmine. He’s died Will.” I ran upstairs and slammed my door and I came to write this.
Will.

Dear diary,
Today was the worst day of my life. Me and my Mum were watching shrek for the eighth time today, and suddenly, we heard a loud knock on the door. Mum got up to go and answer the door so I paused the TV so she didn't miss anything. They kept banging on the door. "Okay I'm coming!" My Mum shouted. She opened the door. It was a military person! My Mum and the military guy walked into the kitchen. It felt weird to see a man just roaming around with my Mum. They sat down at the table and started talking to each other. Five minutes later they were still talking so I pressed play on the TV and started watching. After two and a half hours of watching Shrek. At this point the military person left. So I walked over to Mum and saw tears rolling down her face. So I said "why are you crying." "Your Dad is dead"she whispered. So I sat on her lap and hugged because I felt like she needed it. I didn't know what to do.

A couple of minutes went by and Mum never came back, so I went and looked for her. She was sat in the kitchen with her head in her hands, so I said, "Mum?" She didn’t reply. He was away in a war in Iraq, and he was in an armoured car which went over a land mine. I sat on my Mum’s knee because that is wat she needed. After that we hugged, squeezing like we were pushing the sadness away.

She said “Your dad is dead” I did not cry then she said he was in a jeep and on the side of the road and there was a bomb that exploded. I was traumatised and I squeezed my mum’s hand then I sat down and watched Shrek again.

Today was the WORST day ever! Me and mum were watching Shrek having a whale of a time. Suddenly the doorbell rang so I paused the tv and mum answered the door. Mum took a man, that I didn’t recognise into the kitchen. They were talking for what seemed for like forever so I turned the tv back on and carried on watching Shrek. Mum let the man out and went back into the kitchen. Mum didn’t come back in the living room to watch it with me.
It had been like an hour, so I went into the kitchen and found mum sat at the kitchen crying. I went up to her and sat on her knee to try and cheer her up but it didn’t work. I asked her who that man was? She said “that was the military man” I asked her “well why was he here?” “Your father is dead Will”
In that moment i felt like there was nothing left for me

Running Wild – Diary Entry
Dear Diary,
Today was the day I never want to think about again. It started when me and mum were watching Shrek 2 in the living room. Until, the doorbell rang, “DING DONG.” Mum sighed and said, “Who could that be?” So she paused the television and went to see who it was. I just sat there waiting for her to come back. Ten minutes later, it seemed to me that she wasn’t coming back to watch the film that dad got me for my birthday (we had literally watched it a million times because it was our favourite film). So, I got myself comfy and carried on watching. Two hours later, the film had finished. I realised something had happened to mum so I went off to find her. There she was in the kitchen, her eyes red as if she had been crying. She had her head hung low, with her hands cupped around a cup of tea. “What’s wrong mum?” I asked wondering who had called at the house. “Come sit down Will I have some news to tell you,” mum said in a sad voice. “It’s your father Will, he died in a car accident, there was a bomb at the side of the road and y y y… your father he was in a Landrover at time,” she said as a tear slowly rolled down her face. There was a moment of silence. I went and sat on her knee and held her hand I knew that was what she needed. It was like we were squeezing the pain out of each other. Through the rest of the day we didn’t talk. But there was one question spinning around in my head but, I didn’t have the courage to asked mum the question, until, when we were snuggled up in my bed. Then I asked her “Why? Why did dad have to go the war and this happen to us?” There was an awkward silence again. She didn’t answer. I felt so sad, I gave her a huge hug, life would never be the same again…….

Dear diary,
It was a normal day, we were watching my favourite movie, Shrek 2. I had already watched it about ten times. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, mum got up and paused the movie. She looked through the curtains and said "I wonder who that is". I saw a black limousine was on the drive, I never thought it would ruin my life.
I heard my mum whispering to a man in a green, luxurious suit.. She never came back, I unpaused the movie and watched the rest of it. When it was done I went into the kitchen and saw mum crying with a cup of coffee in her hand. She said "sit down next to me, there is bad news, your father has been in a accident." Suddenly I burst into tears." we are going to your grandad's and grandma's". So we packed our belongings and set off.
