Mr.Grundies (the man in the bowler hat) is a mysterious man. He wears black and has a jet black hat which makes him stand out from the crowd. He is a posh man who encountered Emil Tischbein on a train. He looks like a serious business man, and will probably not think twice before snatching someone’s money! He is a tall plump man reaching a height of ‘6.5’ and a weight of 12 stone. He is not someone you would want to get on the bad side of, although Emil Tiscbein is challenging him.

He is very courageous and doesn’t want to give up when his money is robbed by a loathsome man by the name of Mr. Grundeis. Emil wears a flat cap and has a grey suit with pants that don’t even touch his socks!

Mr Grundeis is a mysterious man. He wears a jet black suit and dark,shiny shoes protrude from the ends of his long skinny legs. His face is long ; under his nose nestle the thick black curls of his moustache and at the top of his head is a dark bowler hat. He is a thief and very very cunning by targeting people who cannot defend themselves.

Emil Tischbien is a young boy who so far in the story is going by train accompanied by Mr Grundeis on his way to his summer holiday trip with his aunty and grandma to Berlin. Emil is a nice boy who respects his mum but he can be mischievous as we learn from the story when he defaced the mayors monument. Emil wears his best jacket which he doesn’t like. His father died in war and his mum works in a hair dressers getting payed a low wage and can just about pay for Emil’s school fees.

Mr. Grundeis
So far into the story, Mr. Grundeis is a shady and figure introduced when Emil Tischbein is travelling to Berlin on the train. Mr. Grundeis was sitting in the same compartment when Emil entered it. He looks middle-aged (actual age so far unknown) and has a thick, jet-black moustache and wears a small, round, dark bowler hat as well as wearing a long brown trench coat and stripy pants. Also, he is from Germany and has a vague German accent. As well as him acting suspicious, looking over his shoulder frequently, he seems to have a generous streak as he offers Emil chocolate on the train, but, again, it is still unknown whether that was just for show, or just to get Emil to trust him. He also has a sarcastic character as when on the train, he discovers that Emil was travelling to Berlin and was describing Berlin extremely sarcastically.

Mr Grundeis is a suspicious man who is a shady person he wears a long brown coat and stripy pants. He has a long black mustache(the color of a crows feather). He has a dark bowlers hat made out of chocolate; he is a tiny bit kind as he offers Emil some chocolate on the train. He is from Germany so when Emil says he is of to Berlin he immediately but in the most unsuspecting way describes it. I think he is the kind of man that will discretely take your money while your not paying attention. Emil is a polite, well-mannered boy who helps his mum when she is ill by doing all of the chores. He obeys his mum when she tells him not to get his best and only suit (even though he does not like it) dirty. Sometimes, he can be trusted apart from when he was on a train to Berlin, he kept rustling the money, which was in his jacket pocket and that might get stolen if he is not careful. He also accepted a piece of chocolate from a stranger, that shows that he can’t be careful with what could happen to him since he accepted something from a stranger. Emil is a polite, young, boy who has just been robbed by a man (Mr. Grundeis). I know Emil is polite because he asks Mrs Jacob, ‘Excuse me, is anybody sitting here?’ This implies he is polite. I also think Emil is forgetful because his mother tells him not to talk to strangers but he takes chocolate off Grundeis.
So far in the story, Emil is travelling to Berlin where he will meet his aunty and cousin. In his train carriage, there started off with 5 people now there is just 1 - Emil. Grundeis stole £7 off Emil whilst he was sleeping. Afterwards he hurried away and left the train. Before Grundeis left, Mrs Jacobs, a woman crocheting and a man all left the train. Mr Grundeis was a middle aged man with a long face, dark mustache and wrinkles around his mouth. He wore a bowler hat on his inky black hair and a long, brown coat over his shirt and tie. His eyes were dark and mysterious and his face was a scarlet red. He breathed heavily despite how thin he was. His shoes were so shiny, that Emil could actually see himself in them. His lips were pursed together all the time and his voice was like a door creaking. When he smiled, all of his grey teeth showed which sent shivers down Emil's spine.

Emil Tischbein is a young boy who is approximately ten years old and lives in Neustadt, Germany. He is a good boy and he cares for his mother, by being good at school and making sure she has an easy job at home. But, like every other boy he can get up to some mischief. For instance, when he was in Neustadt Emil was with some friends and they gave him a leg up and Emil drew a moustache on the statue nearly getting caught by the police. Emil is independent and brave because he goes on the train all by himself carrying lots of money all on his own. When he goes on the train, he is faced with a man called Mr Grundeis. Mr Grundeis tries to scare Emil when he is on his trip to Berlin and gives him a chocolate bar which we think he put sleeping pills in it to make Emil fall asleep so he could steal all his money. Emil and his mother are both poor so they have to choose the cheaper options in life.

Emil is sent to Berlin for the first time in his life to give seven pounds to his grandmother. This shows that he cares and is very independent. The money was for financial support that his grandmother needed. However as Emil falls to sleep on the way to Berlin (which he was told not to do) a man who calls himself Grundeis steals the money from him. Age: 10 years.
Emil is a ten year old boy who lives in Neustadt, Germany. He lives with his mum and helps her when she is working ( she is a hairdresser). Emil is polite but he can be a bit mischievous because he drew a moustache on a statue. Emil is quite poor. He is independent and adventurous. He was on a train to Berlin, on his way to see his grandma but a man called Mr Grundeis stole £7 from him. Emil met up with his gang to get back the money.

He lives with his Mum but they are very poor.Like most kids, Emil can get up to sum mischief.I know because, he drew a mustash on the towns statuie. Emil is a very good boy( at school mostly).I know this is true because, he is good at home and school so that his Mum doesnt get angry with him therefor he is also very caring.

Mr Grundais
Mr Grundais is a mysterious man, he wears black clothes and a bowler hat. He seems like a posh man who stands from other people. He is a serious man and is very smart. Also, he would not think twice before snatching someones money
